PHILADELPHIA, PA (Catholic Online) - Last week's announcement that Hostess would shutter operations brought prospective buyers out of the woodwork. Any of the buyers could, and likely would, resurrect the beloved sponge-cake treats. Mark Leder made his interest known in the brand following last week's announcement saying he could offer a better deal that would be more labor-friendly than what's currently being offered. He also added that he'd like to see money reinvested into the company to promote innovation and modernization. Hostess has confirmed that Leder has approached them with the prospect of a deal. Meanwhile, a judge has ordered Hostess and the striking labor organizers back for another round of mediation before ruling on the request to liquidate the company. © 2012, Distributed by NEWS CONSORTIUM. - - - Pope Benedict XVI's Prayer Intentions for January 2013 General Intention: The Faith of Christians.
